Sunday Style Search

I went a little crazy on Polyvore this weekend, and I wanted to share some of the outfits I created. I absolutely love building outfits on this site, especially because it doesn't matter how expensive they are! D&G purse, sure! Kate Spade heels, of course! Are any of you on Polyvore? Are you as obsessed as I am?

Sunday Storytime: Lost & Found

The book Lost & Found by Jacqueline Sheehan was given to me by a friend for my birthday. As the adorable cover shows, this is a book for dog lovers. Which with my two beautiful pups, I am. Note: as my close friends know, I never used to be a dog lover, but my two little ones have forever changed my tune.

Within the first five pages of Lost & Found, Bob, the main character's husband dies of a heart attack in their bathroom while doing something as mundane as shaving. Rocky tried to save him. She called 911 and performed CPR until they arrived. She did everything she was supposed to do. But it didn't help. She couldn't save him. Widowed in her 40's, Rocky felt completely empty and lost.

Shortly after Bob's funeral, Rocky decides that she needs to escape from her life. She takes a sabbatical from her job as a psychologist and rents out her home in Massachusetts, packed up her belongings and went to an island off the coast of Maine. An area where no one knows who she is or what has happened to her. Rocky decides that she is not willing or able to cope the loss of Bob yet, so she will leave her past behind her. Here, Rocky can be whatever and whoever she wants to be. When looking through the local newspaper, she sees a job opening for an Animal Warden for the island.

Through Rocky's new, and completely unknown job she starts to make friends, but will not let them into her secret life. One day she gets the call that an injured dog is in town, barely able to move with an arrow sticking out of it's leg. Rocky comes to his rescue and gets him fixed up at the Portland vet, but unless they can find his owner he will have to go to a shelter on the mainland. Rocky decides that she could use a little company and will keep watch on the dog until the owner is found. She takes him home, names him Lloyd, and months later is completely in love with him. Through this time, Rocky searches for the answer to how Lloyd was shot with an arrow and where his missing owner is. She starts taking archery classes in an effort to learn more about Lloyd's assailant and meets a strong and handsome archery teacher who, almost a year after Bob's death, makes her heart go pitter patter.

Rocky soon makes startling discoveries and is fighting for both her and Lloyd's lives. The bond that has been formed between Rocky and Lloyd is strong and they would both do anything for each other. But hopefully it doesn't have to come to that.

Lost & Found is a must-red, heart wrenching story for any dog lover. It has very intriguing characters, even if they are in a generation that I am not yet able to fully relate to. Four stars.

What season is it?

With all these leaves on the ground, you'd think that it was fall. But it's not. It's 103 degrees today and is definately still summer. With the never ending heat here, this light and flowy shirt was a no brainer. I love this new shirt that I just got from Target. Super cute with the feathers and so comfortable. It's almost like I'm wearing my pajamas! And then my favorite comfy jeans as well.

Searching for inspiration

I must apologize that I don't have a super inspirational outfit on today. To be honest, I'm running out of clothes! We're still in corporate housing for a few more days, so until we move into our new apartment and the movers bring us our things, I'm on a limited supply. When I tried on several outfits this morning I wasn't really feeling anything, so I landed on this for it's comfort and ease. And I love wearing sneakers whenever I can.

Since I'm so un-inspirational, maybe you can gather some inspiration from one of these ladies!

I absolutely need this entire outfit. (Source)

I just got new rain boots and have been waiting for a rainy day.
Maybe I just do this instead. (Source)

I hereby vow to start working with more color combinations (Source)

Does anyone know where this dress is actually sold? (Source)

Quirky outfits like this are totally my style.

Inspiration

I can't believe I'm going to say this, but today I got my outfit inspiration from none other than Kim Kardashian. Recently, Lucky magazine showed Kim struttin her stuff in an orange and purple dress, and I couldn't get over how great those two colors looked together. Then everywhere I looked, I kept seeing those colors together! I had to jump on the bandwagon and try this trend out.

Addiction

I've always had a funny bone for random things, ironic things and of course watching someone trip on nothing while walking down the street. Pintrest has spawned this funny bone into an addiction to crap on the internet. I'll find a picture that makes me laugh, then check out the blog that it came from. Then check out the blogs that they linked. And so on and so on. No joke, while waiting for The Bachelorette to start last night I was crazy-eyed, zoned-out, consumed in a few new blogs I found. Here's my daily outfit (I didn't want to do my hair) as well as some of my internet crap that I got a kick out of. Let's see if your funny bone is the same as mine.

Starting the week off right

Here's a little sunshiney inspiration for everyone to start their week out right. I may need to buy this print and hang it in my office I love it so much.

I'm also starting my week of right, in jeans. I woke up awful tired today, so jeans it is.

So how was everyone's weekend?  My weekend was uneventful, which I actually kind of liked. Normally I'm the type of person that needs to go, go, go. But our corporate housing is out in the suburbs, and honestly there's not much to do. Now, a normal person would say 'drive downtown then'. Well, I really don't want to drive 20 minutes just to find something to do. Ha. I know, I know. So, our weekend was cooking, reading books, playing a Monopoly video game (which was actually really fun) and pool time.

For cooking, we tried a couple of more receipies that I found on pintrest. The first was sweet potato skewers, which had really great intentions, but kind of fell flat. The only problem I had with how they turned out, was that they were so mushy. I would have much rather had them crispy. Does anyone know how to do that?

Here's the receipie!

Then, with our sweet potatos, we had this hot ham & cheese roll up. Super simple to make - Pillsbury crossant rolls, swiss cheese & ham and throw the suckers in the over. Done.

Here's the recipe!

Finally made it!

Well, I'm finally finished my first 30 for 30 challenge. Going into this, I figured it would be simple. I mean, choosing outfits that look good. How hard could that be?  This was my first challenge as I'm sure everyone could tell. I kept cheating because I obviously didn't plan my 30 pieces appropriately! Here's my final outfit, as well as a recap of my 30 outfits!
