TGIF

Blazer + Jeans: Gap - Tank: F21 - Shoes: Payless

Do you guys remember TGIF? I mean the TV shows on ABC on Friday nights, not Thank God It's Friday. I remember as a kid that TGIF was one of the things that I looked forward to all week long. The whole family (all four of us) would gather in the living room and watch the shows together - shows like Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Boy Meets World. Which I'm still obsessed with.

Did anyone else watch TGIF? Wasn't it amazing? What other shows were a part of this? I can't remember!

Links I Love Coming Soon!

I'm currently scouring the blog world for some really great style inspiration to start my own 'Links I Love' section on my blog. It's painful really, looking through all of these amazing blogs all day and getting new inspiration for my own style. (I'm joking, obviously).

I've got my eye on you!

When I grow up

Shirt, Scarf and Jeans: Target - Boots: Nordstrom Rack
Everytime I hear, see or say 'When I grow up' I hear the Pussycat Dolls singing in my ear.So much so that I can barely hear myself think. To prove it, here's what's going on in my brain right now.

'When I grow up I wanna be famous I wanna be a star, I wanna be in movies
When I grow up I wanna dada I wanna da da I wanna dadadadah'

Yeah, so I don't know all of the words.

But really, when I grow up I want to own a super modern, beautiful house. Preferably with a pool. I don't really know why I've been on a house kick, since I already own one in Minneapolis, but a girl can dream bigger I guess. When I grow up I want to live in this house.

Or one of these houses. I'd feel bad for the tan house on this block.

Dear Groupon

Thank you for my 90 minute massage. Because of you I now feel like this.

Sweet child of mine

Late last night we made a visit to the Puppy ER for our Roxy girl who was feeling under the weather. I was so concerned with how Roxy was feeling that it was making me sick. I felt so awful that I couldn't do anything to make her feel better - I felt helpless. Is this what it feels like to be a mom - to care that much and want to do anything to make them feel better? Yes, I feed her, clean up her poo, bathe and brush her and make sure that she's healthy, but I never felt like an actual mom with my puppies until last night. Now don't get too excited, I still don't want real kids anytime soon.  I've already got two children!

But now onto my outfit for the day.

I guess 'annoyed' is my everyday look

Dear fork,

While searching around etsy, I fell upon this hilarious letterpress piece. You need to check them all out. They're hilarious. Find your favorite letter here.

I realized

Jacket, Floral Shirt + Boots: Target - White Shirt: F21 - Shorts: DYI Cut Offs

...that my apartment building doesn't have an Apt #13. I obviously know that the number 13 is supposed to be bad luck, but really? Is this commonm?

I realized today (well, yesterday really) that my favorite part of chocolate chip cookies is where there aren't any chocolate chips.

And I also realized that the majority of Denver women don't have style, or at least don't try very often. I wore this outfit yesterday and you would not believe the attention that I got. I almost wanted to run back home, put on my furry boots and North Face and blend in with the rest of the world. I didn't though, because this outfit is way to cute to put away.

Someone help me

Sweatshirt + Hat: Target - Belt: F21 - Jeans: Guess - Shoes: Chucks

Hello my friends. I'm hoping someone out there can give me some advice in the blogger world. I 'applied' for weardrobe, which is one of my favorite blogs but it's been over two months and I still haven't been granted access to post. Is anyone out there part of weardrobe?  Are they really this slow, or should I apply again under a different email. Help!

Sunday Storytime: The Lost Girls

This week I read The Lost Girls: Three friends, Four contients. One unconventional detour around the world. I picked up the book at the library completely intrigued by the storyline of three 20-something women pushing themselves to achieve all of the 'right' things before they turn the big 3-0. I mean, hello?! My 30 before 30 list? I can completely relate.

The Lost Girls is a first-person account of Holly, Jen and Amanda's travels around the world with each girl writing chapters on their experiences. It all starts with the three ladies feeling lost in their lives -working their little butts off in NYC to climb the corporate ladder and trying to hit the traditional milestones with their personal relationships - but they weren't really fulfilled. They felt like they were missing something. Something with who they were as individuals and what truly made them happy. With this, they all decided to quit their jobs and quit/pause their relationships and travel around the world for one year to explore, learn and try to find themselves.

I jumped into this book with both feet expecting to be inspired and fall asleep at night dreaming of traveling to Thailand or India. While the traveling dreams happened, that was unfortunately all that I got. This 538 page book is really just an extended travel journal. I remember joking with friends that when you come back from an amazing vacation, all you want to do is tell everyone you know about how amazing it was, but that no one really cares or wants to listen. Someone maybe should have told these girls that insight.

Yes, there were some inspiring moments like the three women connecting with children at a school in Kenya or when one of the girls finally decides to let go and stop trying to stay on top of her career while traveling. But I felt like it was all told from a narcissistic place instead of from an honest one. Yes, you're all smart, funny, beautiful and charitable women. But so are a lot of us. And you don't see us going around writting a 500 page book about it. (Right now, I'm feeling a little bit hypocrital since I blog about my every day life...but you know what I mean, right? right?!?).

I'd give it 2 stars out of 5. My recommendation is to read Eat, Pray Love instead. It's the same story - just a quarter-life crisis instead of a mid-life crisis - and about 200 pages less.

Happy reading!
